    1.    What is Corruption? 

           Corruption is the abuse of discretionary power vested on a public official for personal gratifications for oneself or related party. 
2.    What are the costs of corruption?
 
                The most destructive effects or costs of corruption are-
·   It adversely affects the nation’s development process due to the improper usage of resources
·   It hinders the democratic process
·   It creates suspicion and mistrust among the people
·   It can undermine transparency, accountability, integrity and the rule of law
·   It diverts public resources towards the interests of particular groups or individuals
 
3.    How does corruption affect people’s lives and economy?
 
           It subverts resources from the delivery of infrastructure services and the people have to suffer substandard services.
 
4.    How do I report corruption?
           You can report corruption to the Anti-Corruption Commission by telephone, facsimile, e-mail or through website.
5.    How can I as an individual do to help fight corruption?

           You can report corruption as soon as you become aware of it. In some instances prompt action is required if the required evidence is to be collected by the ACC.

6.    What are the causes of corruption?
           The most commonly acknowledged causes are ‘greed’ and ‘need’. Many people are susceptible to the basic trait for enriching themselves and there are people who are driven to corruption out of destitution.  
7.    In what kind of an environment does corruption thrive?

           It thrives where it is socially acceptable to be corrupt. The society as a whole has to take a stand and show zero tolerance for any individual who engage in corruption.

8.    Can I report corruption anonymously?
          You may report corruption without disclosing your identity. All such reports will be investigated by the ACC.
9.    What information do I need when reporting corruption?
               The essential information required are-
·         who are the corrupt individuals
·         how was the corrupt act perpetrated
·         who else can provide substantiate this information
·         if there is any documentary evidence to show the corrupt act
 

10.Will my identity be disclosed to anyone?

     During the investigation stage, your identity will be kept a secret. If the corruption case goes for prosecution in a court of law, then your identity may only be disclosed to the judge as and when the need arises. Your assistance and help will only be needed in the investigation stage.
